Elegant Cowboy - Amanda & Scott

When working with clients to describe the style or theme of their day it is always a bit tricky to make sure we can nail that vision in just a few words. I’d like to describe my natural style to be “rustic elegance” however now that we have a ton of amazing wedding bloggers and Pinterest, that has become such a general term for a wedding theme. Our bride, Amanda was the creative genius with the vision to describe her wedding to be portrayed as “Elegant Cowboy.” This was quite a large wedding with 330+ guests and all to be planned within 6 weeks. Our brainstorming sessions kicked in via email immediately and when searching for anything Cowboy it is all soooo rustic there was hardly a single touch of elegance which held back any visual inspiration. She knew she wanted all metallic and wanted to incorporate leather, crystals, woods, steer skulls, wagon wheels, Tumbleweeds, candlelight, pumpkins and gourds to pull in the season so piece by piece the over all style was born. She chose to go with 3 different style centerpieces and chose various reds like Scarlet Peonies to give a deep dramatic contrast in color paired with all shades of metals sprayed on the pumpkins. Some tables were a tall iron candle holder finished off with leather and crystals hanging with a clusters of flowers and gilded pumpkins at the base, some in a rustic wood box with all deep red florals accented with leather and crystals and last was a trio of silver mercury hurricanes with candles and florals. Her choice in linens, stemware and flatware complimented all of the colors and styles completely. Every napkin was finished off with a tie of leather and a monogrammed mini cow bell. Going beyond the décor, Amanda, with a background of owning her own restaurant even made sure to see that all guests were fed like real Cowboys like to eat. Starting with a gourmet cheese spread and pulled pork sliders for the cocktail hour, as the guest entered they were handed a personal favorite of Scotts, a boat of French fries. Dinner was started with a wild mushroom soup with a grilled cheese dipper and then branded cutting boards were placed with a filet beef strip and truffle mac n’ cheese with green beans. Following the traditional cake was an ice cream sundae bar and a late night taco truck. The ceremony backdrop was a structure handmade out of Almond Tree branches adorned with lanterns and enhanced at the base with large gilded pumpkins and gourds. Guests then moved inside the event center at The Vista where they created the Tumbleweed Tavern with tumbleweed chandeliers. Guests then moved thru a tent tunnel by the fountain outside due to this rainy November day and found their place cards that were sketched on bare wood tags and then everyone entered in to the reception tent where all of the fun began….including guests taking home their tokens of a portrait from a caricature artist!
